FAHZU's comprehensive scientific impact has increased to rank the 5th?among its national colleagues, according to the 2016 Rankings of Scientific Impact of Chinese Hospitals released on Tuesday by Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS).
In another list released on the same day by CAMS that evaluates the scientific impact of various specialties, FAHZU's infectious disease specialty was ranked the No. 1, followed by the Hospital's general surgery specialty.
The two specialties are under the leadership of Professor Li Lanjuan and Professor Zheng Shusen, both of whom are academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
The Hospital's respirology and haematology specialties obtained two other seats of the top 5 on the list, while its five other specialties, respectively the nephrology, gastroenterology, urinary surgery, thoracic surgery and phthisiology, were among the best 20.
The rankings were based on the assessment of China's 1,149 highest graded hospitals and 176 army hospitals and TCM hospitals, according to CAMS.
Upon learning the outcome of the rankings, FAHZU President Wang Weilin expressed thanks to the two academicians and all other staff for their contribution to the Hospital's scientific and technological progresses.
The president said that the Hospital would further step up efforts for its integrated development as a medical service provider, educational facility and scientific research institute.
"We will continue to make great efforts to speed up the construction of specialties and the process of putting scientific research achievements into clinical use, so as to further improve the quality of our medical service and play a bigger role in the region of our service coverage," he said.
Located in east China's Zhejiang province, FAHZU's patients are mainly from the nation's eastern region. However, its actual region of service coverage is much larger, as many patients come to Hospital from all over the country. And a large number of its patients also come from abroad, as the Hospital has gained ever increasing fame and influence around the world.
