Anti-infection center joins hands with Institut Pasteur

The world famous antiinfection giant Institut Pasteur has signed a memorandum of cooperation with its Chinese counterpart, the Collaborative Innovation Center for Diagnosis and Treatment of Infectious Diseases (CCID).

The agreement was reached on Sunday when a team of medical experts led by CCID director Li Lanjuan visited the French institute. CCID is based in Zhejiang University, to which this hospital is affiliated.

According to the agreement, the two sides will carry out longterm cooperation on studies of etiology and pathogen, and work together on the early warning, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases.

Other cooperative items include personnel exchanges between the two organizations, and making? joint efforts to undertake research projects that need collaborations across borders.?

The Pasteur institute is named after Louis Pasteur, who made some of the greatest breakthroughs in modern medicine including pasteurization and vaccines for rabies. Founded in 1887, the non-profit private foundation is dedicated to the study of biology, micro-organisms, diseases, and vaccines, and? it has now 24 branches over the world.

CCID is founded in 2012 jointly by Zhejiang University, Hong Kong University, Tsinghua University and the China national anti-disease authority, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
